We are proud to announce that May’s business partner of the month is Seif Wassef. Seif is the first partner at our brand new field site, Helwan. He is married, has two children, and currently works for a construction company. He applied for a loan to purchase a van that seats seven individuals. He plans to use the van to transport his customers from their job sites to their homes. However, Seif does not plan to quit his construction job; instead, he will operate his new business while maintaining his employment at the construction job in order to maximize his income. 

 

Seif has demonstrated a willingness and ability to adapt his business plan to market conditions and health concerns. When he initially applied for the loan, Seif intended to both sell shoes and transport customers using his van. However, after completing a business analysis with Koinonia, Seif adjusted his business plan to focus exclusively on transportation. After making the adjustment, his monthly net profit increased to over 4,000 L.E per month. Furthermore, in order to ensure his customers' safety during the current pandemic, Seif is sanitizing his van with a mixture of chlorine and alcohol in between trips and wearing a mask and gloves. 

 

With the 4,000 L.E. he is earning from his new business, Seif plans on saving 2,000 L.E. (1,000 L.E. in each of his children’s bank accounts) and spending the other 2,000 L.E. to improve his family’s circumstances. He is prioritizing his children’s education by hiring a private tutor and purchasing them computers. Additionally, he hopes to purchase a new apartment for his family. However, Seif is most looking forward to the increase in quality time he will be able to spend with his wife and children.
